Westside - Ty Dolla $ign

A slick deep cut from the star's shockingly overlooked recent album Free TC, Westside is the perfect summer track to have blazing out of the car stereo, with the windows down low, in the polluted mid-city (if you're obnoxious enough to do that that is!)

Running Away (Winta James Remix) - Ady Suleiman

Whilst the original version of the track is little more than a bland, acoustic affair, the Winta James Remix is something quite special. A pleasant piece of reggae-pop, Running Away (Winta James Remix) is not only the perfect track for an open roof car drive during the (passing) British summer, but it could have also easily been the theme tune for the Remain campaign throughout the EU referendum.

All Nite - Clams Casino feat. Vince Staples

Whilst the fiery, threatening lyrics, on the part of Vince Staples (after listening to it, any listener will be certain to remain in his good books!), and the chant-worthy chorus certainly elevate the track, it's the slick, minimalist production coming from the producer, Clams Casino, that makes it truly great.

If I Start To Talk - Tiwa Savage feat. Dr Sid

A refreshingly non-generic piece of Afrobeats (arguably the least varied music genre currently existing), what sets If I Start To Talk most apart from the already congested world of African Music is its positive message and the lack of 'shake your [insert appropriate body part here]' in its lyrics. Whilst the cynics among its audience might highlight how relatively weak the verses are, this is nevertheless bulldozed over by the triumphant chorus and exultant percussion as the song reaches its conclusion.

I'm Back!!!

No apologies for my absence (for the select few who have felt it). Moving on, over the next few months I'm will be revealing the current contents of my Spotify Starred playlist in a 'track of the day' kind of format. Brief formalities over, now time for the good stuff...

Track of the Day - 26th June

Take Me Dancing by Will Joseph Cook

A track perfect for the typical middle-class barbecue affair, this quirky indie-pop affair will surely soothe the pain for those still raw after the shock of Thursday's proceedings.
